Good growth ;)

Recent surveys done by few Boston based universities indicate that there is a decay in US and Canadian youth's interest on drugs and overmuch drinking...same there is a considerable increase in girls between age 14-17 for abortion to hospitals in India ( Highest in Mumbai as the number is in thousands and constitutes to nearly 30% of abortions done in last year)... great growth indeed :)...West is learning and is becoming " narrow minded" and India is getting broad minded and civilized ;)..Awesome!

Plantation of non-native trees will not help

As a friend brought it in the mean while discussion, I realized that planting a non-native trees and continuing deforestation / unnecessary landscaping will not help. Like in cases of Utharakhand disasters , native plants are deodars but not shaal trees. Deodars would greatly prevent such and keep the hold tighten on mountain and hills where as shaal trees would not be able to help. Hope Govt listens to these concerns of many who are already working on bringing awareness about this , properly educates all the needed and takes proper measures.

Not only about disaster control but lot more things like life time of those plants, survival of various species which are natives of that land would be interrelated and connected to this factor. Nature designs everything as per climatic conditions there and facilitates a balanced ecological cycle at all places, I believe.

Would not that be a great day to see Indian Govt being really concerned about potential disasters that are going to occur in coming 15-25 years due to all these?

Watched Edge of tomorrow

Photo: Watched two movies Edge of tomorrow and Ulava Charu Biryani this week end... Very clever script and Brilliant screen play for Edge of tomorrow but may not cater to Indian audience :)..First half of Ulava Charu Biryani is good ..A sensible attempt and good enough execution of what ever they thought of making though we may not get connected ...Watched two movies Edge of tomorrow and Ulava Charu Biryani last week end... Finally a temple traced back to Dwapara yuga is being refurbished

In my Schooling days, I have read in some books in library that Arjuna got astras from Indra and from Lord Shiva on the hill in Vijayawada . Hence the hill is named after Indra as " Indra keeladri" and as Arjuna got Vijaya ( Victory) the place became Vijayavatika which later became Vijayawada. After Arjuna got astras and darshan of Lord Shiva and Indra, pandavas built a small temple there as a memory .

I wondered how I could miss that and asked many concerned and finally got to know from some one that the temple still exists and is in top of hills covered by woods and rocks and is not accessible. I always wished that it should be brought to the lime light ..

Finally today some endowment officers sent recommendations to th concerned authorities about  refurbishing the temple and making it accesable and they agreed verbally to sanction 2crores for the same. Happy!

Though small its a cultural heritage of us forbidden for long. We hardly have temples /monuments of thousands of years of age and that is a defnite need to protect such.

Extensive deforestation is becoming a threat to biodiversity

Ramblings :)

Forests were occupying 24% of our country's land at the time of independence ( about which the then environmental activists were worried that it was less) but now it is arround 16% .

This decrease is leading to many adverse effects like -Loss to Biodiversity ( many species are becoming extinct every day), increase in temperatures , soil erosion , floods, increased pollution levels etc there by effecting humans in many ways.

We , who claim to be civilised have not learnt the great n real empathy and compassion tribals had from generations. Examples to the extent of my knowledge are like -when tribals want to take honey from hives , they will make sure that they will not kill bees and would not cut more than 40% of the hive so that bees can easily built it back and can survive . It is mutually beneficial. Another example is of tribal agriculture in forests- when they shift from one place to another , they will prepare a small forest land for temporary agriculture by cutting trees, scaping the land etc . But after they are done with a crop or two, they will shift to another place and leave this place for more than 20 years so that it will be a thick forest and fertile land again.

In this process, they make sure that they will not kill any animal or bird. Even if by mistake they come to a place which was used by them or others for the same purpose in recent past, they will not cut tress to make sure that they are not damaging forests.

Mining, constructions etc are happening where they are not supposed to be. Harmful wastes from them like chemicals are being released to forests and rivers there by causing a damage to the existence of them. A good example of such is floods in recent past in Utharakhand. From generations, locals there know and have been telling that any large construction in that soil can lead to floods. In 18th century itself , the then British Govt studied conditions there and brought an act that no large constructions should happen in that hilly area. But in spite of repeated warnings from many activists- power plants were constructed by clearing small forests and rocky lands which could have prevented the flood to great extent and would have saved thousands of lives.

Human can live and develop on the guide lines of nature but not by going by horn fight with it.

Rowdyism with Nature with not work!

NDA says No to FDI in multi brand retail

Its a dream come true for me ! I am really happy that newly formed NDA Government under leadership of Modi stood on their word that -No FDI will be allowed in small retail. New Commerce and industry minister Nirmala Seetharaman confirmed the same .

http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/services/retail/new-commerce-and-industry-minister-nirmala-sitharaman-says-no-to-fdi-in-multi-brand-retail/articleshow/35632231.cms

It was my major concern and worry when previous cong govt passed FDI bill as allowing that can potentially vanish "our local" products , damage small vendors and shop keepers...this change now is crucial and is a big relief I believe.

bluetooth govt ;) . Happy !

I am happy that beautiful narrative cinemas and story telling days are getting back! Also collections to Manam, Atharintiki Daredi , SVSC ( varying by star reachment though) etc which are not greatly admirable movies as per me (sorry if I am hurting any one by saying this :)  prove how much family audience are not being catered adequately and scope of them.
