Recently watched the much hyped movie of recent past.."Robo" along with my younger sisters and brothers..why I was mentioning is this is because I was obseving my little cousin of 10 whether he would get excited or really enjoy it ..ofcourse he didnt :-)
As its more like a fantasy movie ....You will be enjoying it better if you don't look for logics ..The way they planned scientist charector is good like ..they made sure that Rajini dont do any fihgts as it is being cattered to the audiance by "robo".Sankar like Rajamaouli in telugu always tries to satisfy so called mass male tastes by intensionally creating some situational demand for scenes like rape or insulting girls etc. Boys movie is example for it..Ofcouse I dont like/believe in such and more over many good directors starting from Mani ratnam to Krishna Vamshi and Sekhar to Chandu proved that they are not really needed.
They did body scan for Rajini and created robo like him.Rajini did well in negative role.
As I heard that they are using animatronics for the first time in India, I was concentrating on observing how that experiment would work out...I felt that animatronics should have been lot better. They are still up to the standard of Ammoru , Anji , Devi etc who were made by using only CG technology. Ofcourse Sankar and team would have had their own boundations to wind up the movie and release because of film getting delayed, getting stopped for some time due to change of producers, back step by financiers etc . But the efforts put by the team are really appreciable. What ever the reasons are ,It would have got more appreciaton or admiration if they would have succeeded in using animatronics like Steven succeeded in making us feel that dinosaurs are real in Jurassic Park by using animatronic ensuring appropriate lighting for scenes in which metal is used.
Though I am not admirer of Shankar's style of film making , I admire his dare of "thinking big" and achieving it to good extent. The way he created hype , did publicity and marketted the movie are good.
Thanks.
Gopi Gandi.
