Pilla Jamindar .. a good movie

Watched Pilla Zamindar movie today..just sharing my feel about it.

After a longtime , watched a good movie ..values mixed with enough entertainment....dailogues are really good..I liked it technically also in various aspects....I liked the cinematography in parts( though its not great..his passion can be seen in some parts..we should also keep scope in mind)..After a longtime I saw a movie with complete native village backdrop..(before this, the last one I could recall is ownanna kadanna of Teja)..bits of movie songs coming in background according to mood of scene are very funny and make us laugh . Screenplay is normal and locks in it are easily guessable.

Overall its a good native treat..film with values..enough entertainment..no vulagrity..no violence..

Hope more such movies come! All the best to the team of Pilla Jamindar.

Thanks

Widening the scope of sports in India..

Read an article in internet...Sharing it as I felt happy that scope of sports in India is being broadened...

Former Indian cricket skipper Sourav Ganguly who brought revolutionary changes in Indian cricket and laid the foundation for all the reforms being followed now is gung-ho about the inaugural Formula One Indian Grand Prix and feels it will be a big leap in broadening the sports environ in the cricket-crazy nation.

“The cricket crazy nation will get to taste something new and extremely exciting. It has the potential to find its audience in the country, Ganguly said at the Sahara Force India Formula One Team flag raising event. An excited Ganguly said he would be a spectator at the event and was looking forward to watching the likes of "Schumacher (Michael Schumacher), Hamilton (Lewis Hamilton).”

"I have been to a Grand Prix before when I was in Northampton playing for Northamptonshire in 2006. I will be present there on the 30th to witness the epoch-making event. I wish I could sit inside this car (pointing to the Force India car model)," he said.

JA's lecture on Skill development..ways and challenges.

Recently attended a conference on the topic Skills needed in this current competetive world , ways and challenges. It was awesome. Happy to share that I had a privilege of meeting and talking to JA Chowdary ( You might have heard and seen him in news many times..(Co-chairman FICCI ,CEO Tallent spirit, President TiE, President HYSEA,Ex-chairman IEEE, Ex-chairman AMCHAM and trustee of NANDI).I saw in news a long back , a minister saying that with out him Hyderabad would not have had 17 lakh IT jobs..he is such a great tycoon in the industry.

He shared with us many inspisring incidents and his learnings from them ..starting from he going to interviews to ..he getting shocked after he went to do campus interviews... Most inspiring one was his meeting with Steve jobs ..he narrated how Steve jobs thinks , judges and takes decisions etc.

It was attended by many managers, PMPs, business school heads, many renowned corporate trainers who also had their queries on the topic. It was really inspiring and thought provoking.

Thanks

StrengthsFinder 2.0..a good book

Finally finished reading one of the best sellers StrengthsFinder 2.0 :-)....

It's a good book where Tom rath (about whom we all heard as one of best selling authors of last decade and also as a good business consultant) took foward his mentor Clifton's StrengthsFinder book...

It helps us in understanding various personality&attitude related skills by clearly defining and explaining them with examples..there by in avoiding misunderstanding people of such skills..

It helps us in realising our inner strengths there by in realising where we are lacking.

Thanks to servers which were down and less load of work on days which facilitated in completing this :-)

Thanks

Infosys Narayana murthy's comments on IITs

Recently Narayana murthy made some comments about the decreasing quality in IITs..It arose some critisism from people who feel defended by those comments..

Below is the link for reference about his comments..

what's wrong in them..I am in complete support of his comments ..In recent past Kapil Sibal also commented in an interview that 85% of technical students are garbage and 15% are taking country forward.

Recently list of top 200 universties of world is released ..it is unfortunate that not even 1 Indian institute/university is listed in it.

Some people may say that these ratings are biased/partial towards west or fake ratings etc..I agree to little extent..but let me clarify that  these will be calculated considering manythings like..

1. Qualification of Faculty 2. Patents they hold 3. New Technology discovered/invented/transferred
4. Nobel Laureates 5. Publications of the faculty and the impact of the publication whether it was a normal research or a ground breaking research 6. Endowment received 7. Infrastructure of the University
8. Student/Faculty ratio 9. What the students did after graduation.

So its just not about qualitative engineering course..or packages students get..there are lot more..These rankings authenticate Narayana murthy's comments..

Majority of above factors can be improved if Govt allocates good money..I wish Govt takes some constructive measures with proper vision.

Thanks.

Ram Charan's polo team..best example for how sports can be promoted in India

Just after Charan bought polo team in Hyderabad..polo starting getting good publicity..his presence there for encouraging team..created lot of hype and publicity for polo. Though polo clubs and competetions were existing in hyderabad from long time..it happened only this time.

As of now it may not be commercial or money making sport like cricket ( many say that most of the polo team owner's in India lose money but they do it just for their passion..I dont know how far it's true), if such promotion happens in future it can attract good tallent in to this game as well.

As an ardent believer that ..apart from cricket other sports should also be encouraged and India should stand proud in all international sports events..I see this as a good thing...Congrats to Cherry's team ( RC HPRC) which won Chief Minister's cup..who ever is the winner..polo's viewership in Hyderabad increased..and hence finally polo won.

As already stars like Aamir Khan , Pawan Kalyan and Ranbir kapoor told many times that they are ready to give their time to promote and encourage foot ball in India if concerned authorities come with plans to them, Govt should make such plans and encourage sports.

Thanks.

Steve jobs,Best among innovative CEOs

You all might have read or heard in recent past that Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple resigned...I would like to share about the learning he gave all of us.

Like Warren Buffet is a school, Bill Gates is a school , Narayana Murthy is a school...Steve is also a school...School which taught the world how to achieve great success and reach hieghts in business through Innovativeness..by making things which were just extra time activities before apple as necessity after apple arrived..By innovating the world arround us, apple became a huge market and that is only possible because of vision Steve Jobs had. He was personally involved and was supervising the teams that introduced all revolutionary products starting from Mac to iphone...and through this he was able to create a biggest competetor for microsoft which was believed to be next to impossible once .

Hats off to his contribution.

Thanks.

lokpal bill is not enough..Anna Hazare's movement is with a noble cause but not a mere solution

I know this may be disliked by many and may hurt some body...but my responsibility is to write as I feel that these logics are needed for country...I guess this is going to be lenghty :-).

Anna Hazare's janlokpal..cant eradicate or prevent corruption in India. Because I dont believe that another layer of bureaucracy can reduce corruption...to defend this I would like to given you an example of  "lokayuktha"..It started with almost same thinking as lokpall but how much is it effecting now ? If lokayukhtha is strong and independent body..where is corruption in India grown this much even after establishing lokayukhtha. Even NTR started some body like this ( dont remember the exact name ..it starts with 'Dharma'..ofcourse NTR is also as equalent as any other chief minister but a little benevolent/liberal corrupted CM :-)..for that matter if a similar movement rised in AP..YSR also would have established one such body as another layer of bureaucracy.

So,  Just another layer will not be able to do it..I am sure that in a course of time it will also be like another lokayuktha..

Coming to the powers being demanded for Lokpal..sorry Janlokpal :-)..This is completely against our parliamentary system and against the constitution which created 3 parallel systems..

These days it became a fashion to light candles and shout..walk on roads..boycott something( I feel most of the people do it so that they can avoid work or college :-) )...but how many of these so called supporters or protesters or followers know what is lokpal..what is there in janlokpal and how it functions? Believe me 3/4th of people who participated in agitations either supporting or opposing does not know what exactly is zonal system, what is 14F and how will it effect? same is the case with lokpal.

Coming to the previous point ..why I am not in favour of lokpal is..
  • Judiciary system ..including supreme courts and chief justices coming under lokpal
  • Lokpal people will have special police powers
  • Lokapl can give own judgements and sentences
  • PM is also under lokpal..which indirectly means that it can dictate anything to both the houses.
What if all or few of 7 poeple who got elected for lokpal are not having visionary thinking....partial..becomes corrupted? Because they are also people like other IAS officers, social activists and politicians..but the only difference is these are "believed to be" good...here comes the discrepency according to me..

Hence I feel that lot of changes are needed in lokpal bill..it shoud empower local bodies and should have wings to roots of the country like villages.

What do you think..7 people deciding fate of country( directly or indrectly)..controlling heads of executive bodies..houses..judiciary etc ...I feel that it would lead to autocracy from democracy.

Anna Hazare's intention is good..no doubt that Hazare and his team are doing it for a noble cause ..but this bill is not enough to achieve it.

Bulletins in Media for their TRPs...hypocratic and fake discussion lead to temporary elevations in agitations.

But one thing is true ...this would contribute in creating some awareness about need of fight against the corruption in India and in arising some repulsive thinking against corruption atleast in few( I hope :-) )..

The change is needed in the attitude of people and system..If one is serious about fighting against the corruption...they should vote to the right person basing on track record and commitment to serve the country..irrespective of caste creed religion..place..party..how many among the poeple who came on to roads now, will do so?

This is the time that all the intellectuals of India should come forward and educate the people bravely with their analysis instead of getting carried away "Jan " and "Media".

Sirivennela's words .." Niggadeesi adugu ee sigguleni jananni ...aggithoti kadugu ee samaja jeevaschavanni
maaradu lokam ..maaradu kaalam" ..are true till today.

But the biggest question is whether we can prove Sirivennela wrong on any day .. Hope that day comes.

Thanks

Delhi Belly..yes "it" happens ..even in Aamir khan productions

Watched Delhi Belly movie day before...just sharing my views about it..

As they put in the tag line( above the title..u can read in the poster on the right side), "it" happens and suprisingly it happened on the most acclaimed Aamir Khan productions.

Enough tallent shown in charectorisations..in screenplay..but the language used is worse for an indian film.

Every other sentence starts and ends with  f**k...I would have thought that the team wanted to make it for NRI audience aswell  if it( that word) was used now and then in natural flow..but it clearly seems that they intensionally inserted  it every where..

On the name of different taking or natural taking etc..complete vulgarity was put in many scenes of the film.. any family or women ( exceptions..u can make out) would find it difficult to sit in theater ...

Over all ..from a technician point of view..its a worthy work...good performance from all the casting...clever planning and execution to encash herd type audience..college going ...who would be in dreams about completing their college and entering into such life style through corporate world etc.

But to speak on behalf of Indian audience..its " that" ..what they put in the tag line of movie :-).

Thanks

Rangam movie..a dependable script

Recently released Rangam movie ( dubbed version of tamil movie KO) , is a good and dependable script with social commitment.

Director touched important points in contemporary politics and media. Most among them are those which youngsters with social commitment want to change..hence the movie cattered good percentage of audience.

I felt that the only small draw back of the movie could be..screenplay ...which was intellectually planned and hence may not be catchy or easily understood by audience of B and C centers. So, it became a decent hit in telugu but not massive hit.

I liked the way charectorisations are made...No charector including hero are  made in macho or super hero types :-). Heroine's role has got limited scope. I personally like such kind of movies much but I can surely say that its a good to watch movie for all types of audience . Congrats to the team of Rangam.

Thanks.

Integrity , the foundation of charector( find some time..long but really good :-) )

Excellent article on integrity by Brain Tracy...

Integrity is a value, like persistence, courage and industriousness. Even more than that, it is the value that guarantees all the other values. You are a good person to the degree to which you live your life consistent with the highest values that you espouse. Integrity is the quality that locks in your values and causes you to live consistent with them.

Integrity is the foundation of character. And character development is one of the most important activities you can engage in. Working on your character means disciplining yourself to do more and more of those things that a thoroughly honest person would do, under all circumstances.

To be impeccably honest with others, you must first be impeccably honest with yourself. You must be true to yourself. You must be true to the very best that is in you, to the very best that you know. Only a person who is living consistent with his or her highest values and virtues is really living a life of integrity. And when you commit to living this kind of life, you will find yourself continually raising your own standards, continually refining your definition of integrity and honesty.

You can tell how high your level of integrity is by simply looking at the things you do in your day-to-day life. You can look at your reactions and responses to the inevitable ups and downs of life. You can observe the behaviors you typically engage in and you will then know the person you are.

The external manifestation of high integrity is high-quality work. A person who is totally honest with himself or herself will be someone who does, or strives to do, excellent work on every occasion. The totally honest person recognizes, sometimes unconsciously, that everything he or she does is a statement about who he or she really is as a person.

When you start a little earlier, work a little harder, stay a little later and concentrate on every detail, you are practicing integrity in your work. And whether you know it or not, your true level of integrity is apparent and obvious to everyone around you.

Perhaps the most important rule you will ever learn is that your life only becomes better when you become better.

All of life is lived from the inside out. At the very core of your personality lie your values about yourself and life in general. Your values determine the kind of person you really are. What you believe has defined your character and your personality. It is what you stand for, and what you wont stand for, that tells you and the world the kind of person you have become.

Ask yourself this questions: What are your five most important values in life? Your answer will reveal an enormous amount about you. What would you pay for, sacrifice for, suffer for and even die for? What would you stand up for, or refuse to lie down for? What are the values that you hold most dear? Think these questions through carefully and, when you get a chance, write down your answers. Here is another way of asking that question. What men and women, living or dead, do you most admire? Once you pick three or four men or women, the next question is: Why do you admire them? What values, qualities, or virtues do they have that you respect and look up to? Can you articulate those qualities? What is a quality possessed by human beings in general that you most respect? This is the starting point for determining your values. The answers to these questions form the foundation of your character and your personality.

Once you have determined your five major values, you should now organize them in order of importance. What is your first, most important value? What is your second value? What is your third value? And so on. Ranking your values is one of the very best and fastest ways to define your character.

Remember, a higher order value will always take precedence over a lower order value. Whenever you are forced to choose between acting on one value or another, you always choose the value that is the highest on your own personal hierarchy.

Who you are, in your heart, is evidenced by what you do on a day-to-day basis, especially when you are pushed into a position where you have to make a choice between two values or alternatives. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, Guard your integrity as a sacred thing. In study after study, the quality of integrity, or a persons adherence to values, ranks as the number one quality sought in every field. When it comes to determining whom they will do business with, customers rank the honesty of a salesperson as the most important single quality. Even if a they feel that a salespersons product, quality and price is superior, customers will not buy from that salesperson if they feel that he or she is lacking in honesty and character.

Likewise, integrity is the number one quality of leadership. Integrity in leadership is expressed in terms of constancy and consistency. It is manifested in an absolute devotion to keeping ones word. The glue that holds all relationships together-including the relationship between the leader and the led-is trust, and trust is based on integrity.

Integrity is so important that functioning in our society would be impossible without it. We could not make even a simple purchase without a high level of confidence that the price was honest and that the change was correct. The most successful individuals and companies in America are those with reputations of high integrity among everyone they deal with. This level of integrity builds the confidence that others have in them and enables them to do more business than their competitors whose ethics may be a little shaky. Earl Nightingale once wrote, If honesty did not exist, it would have to be invented, as it is the surest way of getting rich. A study at Harvard University concluded that the most valuable asset that a company has is how it is known to its customers, its reputation.

The second step to developing integrity and character in yourself is to study people of great character. Study the lives and stories of people like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, Florence Nightingale, Susan B. Anthony and Margaret Thatcher. Study the people whose strength of character enabled them to change their world. As you read, think about how they would behave if they were facing the difficulties that you face.

You can become a better human being by consciously acting exactly as the kind of person that you would most like to become. If you behave like an individual of integrity, courage, resolution, persistence and character, you will soon create within yourself the mental structure and habits of such a person. Your actions will become your reality. You will create a personality that is consistent with your highest aspirations.

There are three primary areas of your life where acting with integrity is crucial. These are the three areas of greatest temptation for forsaking your integrity, as well as the areas of greatest opportunity for building your integrity. When you listen to your inner voice and do what you know to be the right thing in each of these areas, you will have a sense of peace and satisfaction that will lead you on to success and high achievement.

The third area of integrity has to do with your commitments to others. Always keep your word. Be a man or a woman of honor. If you say that you will do something, do it. If you make a promise, keep it. If you make a commitment, fulfill it. Be known as the kind of person that can be trusted absolutely, no matter what the circumstances.

Your integrity is manifested in your willingness to adhere to the values you hold most dear. Its easy to make promises and hard to keep them, but if you do, every single act of integrity will make your character a little stronger. And as you improve the quality and strength of your character, every other part of your life will improve as well.

Thanks.

Gopi Gandi.
